Editorial Policy
How LawnMender researches, reviews, updates, and corrects lawn-care guidance and product recommendations.
LawnMender aims to publish practical guidance that clearly separates documented facts, editorial judgment, and commercial relationships.
Research and sources
For substantive lawn and soil claims, we prefer primary and authoritative sources. Depending on the question, these may include university extension programs, government agencies, recognized turf and agronomy organizations, peer-reviewed research, and product labels.
Product identity and objective specifications are checked against manufacturer material, product documentation, or other direct product sources. A retailer listing may support an identity check, but it is not treated as independent evidence of quality or performance.
Fact, judgment, and uncertainty
Precise rates, timing, compatibility, and safety instructions should come from the current label or authoritative local guidance. When evidence varies by climate, grass species, soil condition, or product configuration, the article should say so rather than promise a universal outcome.
We do not fabricate ownership, testing, personal experience, property details, projects, credentials, or results. If LawnMender has not performed hands-on testing, the article must not imply that it has. Research-based recommendations should never be presented as hands-on testing.
Product recommendations
Products are selected for their documented fit with the task being discussed. Relevant factors may include intended use, dimensions, construction, compatibility, and practical constraints. Star ratings, popularity, or an affiliate relationship are not substitutes for verifying the product and its useful specifications.
Product facts such as dimensions, materials, and compatibility are checked independently from the article's comparison and recommendation. If we cannot confidently identify a product, we do not recommend it through an affiliate link.
Affiliate relationships and independence
LawnMender participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Affiliate links may produce a commission without increasing the reader's purchase price. Affiliate eligibility does not justify a recommendation, a favorable conclusion, or a claim of testing. See the affiliate disclosure for more information.
AI-assisted work
AI tools may assist with drafting, editing, formatting, source organization, and quality checks. AI output is not accepted as factual authority. Material claims and product identities must be checked against suitable sources, and content must comply with the same rule against fabricated experience regardless of how it was drafted. Articles also receive human editorial and visual review before publication.
Images and source material
Images should have a documented source or usage basis and should accurately represent the subject or product being discussed. Alt text describes the image for readers who cannot see it. Captions add context and are kept separate from alt text.
Corrections and updates
Articles may be updated when evidence, product availability, specifications, or guidance changes. Meaningful factual corrections should be made promptly and the displayed update date should reflect substantive revisions. To report a possible error, use the contact page and include the article URL, the passage in question, and a supporting source if available.
