Privacy Policy

How LawnMender and its infrastructure handle visitor data, embedded video requests, and outbound affiliate links.

This policy explains the limited personal data involved when you visit LawnMender, contact the site by email, load its optional YouTube video, or follow an Amazon affiliate link.

When you visit LawnMender

LawnMender is delivered as a static website. Like ordinary website infrastructure, its hosting, content-delivery, and security providers may process request data needed to deliver and protect the service. This can include an IP address, date and time, requested URL, response status, referrer, browser or user-agent information, and security signals.

This data is used to deliver pages, maintain availability, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect network and information security. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure publication under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Technical request data is supplied automatically when your browser requests a page. It is not used by LawnMender for profiling or automated decisions.

Privacy-focused site measurement

LawnMender uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page use and real-world site performance. Its small browser beacon reads information such as page path, referrer host, browser and device category, country, and performance measurements. It does not use cookies, browser storage, a LawnMender visitor or session ID, or fingerprinting. Cloudflare receives the ordinary network details needed to handle the beacon request, but states that the source IP is discarded at its edge rather than stored with Web Analytics data.

When you intentionally follow a paid Amazon link, LawnMender also sends a small click event to Cloudflare. The event records only the article, product, Amazon product identifier (ASIN), placement type, recommendation label, and the link's position in the article. It does not include the page's query string, a full referrer, IP address, user agent, visitor or session identifier, fingerprint, or free text. This measurement runs separately from the Amazon link and does not control or delay where the link takes you.

LawnMender uses these limited measurements to maintain site performance and understand which published recommendations readers find useful. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in improving a reliable, useful publication under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Results are used as aggregate trends, not to profile people, follow them across pages or sites, or make automated decisions about them.

Cookies and browser storage

LawnMender does not set its own cookies and does not use local storage, session storage, or another browser store for measurement, advertising, accounts, or preferences. The site does not include Google Analytics, an advertising pixel, Amazon OneTag, or a visitor identifier. It also has no accounts, comments, newsletter signup, or contact form. Because the implemented site measurement neither stores information on your device nor reads previously stored information, LawnMender does not display a site-wide cookie banner.

Messages you send

If you email LawnMender, the message may include your email address, name, message content, attachments, and ordinary email metadata. This information is used to answer the message, investigate a correction, or handle a privacy request. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in responding to correspondence under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or, for a request that must be handled under data-protection law, compliance with a legal obligation under Article 6(1)(c).

Messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, document its resolution, protect legal rights, or comply with a legal obligation. Email service providers may process the message to deliver and store it.

Embedded YouTube video

One article offers a YouTube video in privacy-enhanced mode. The player is not requested when the article first loads. If you choose “Load video,” your browser connects to youtube-nocookie.com, operated by Google, and sends technical request data such as your IP address, browser information, referrer, and the requested video. YouTube may process additional data when you interact with the player under Google's own privacy terms.

Google describes its processing in its privacy policy.

Loading the external player is optional and based on your choice. You can read the article without loading it. Privacy-enhanced mode prevents an embedded-video view from being used to personalize the viewer's YouTube browsing experience, but it does not make the request anonymous. LawnMender relies on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR for this optional connection. Google or YouTube may use cookies or similar browser storage after the player is loaded. LawnMender does not remember your choice. Reloading the article returns the video to its unloaded state.

Amazon affiliate links

Product links marked as paid links are ordinary outbound links containing LawnMender's Amazon Associate tag. LawnMender does not load Amazon tracking scripts or Amazon OneTag on its pages. No request is sent to Amazon merely because a LawnMender page contains a product link.

If you choose to follow an Amazon link, your browser leaves LawnMender. Amazon receives the tagged destination and ordinary request information, which may include LawnMender as the referring site depending on browser settings. Amazon may associate that visit with later activity or a qualifying purchase according to its own privacy notice and terms. Amazon, not LawnMender, controls data used to run its site, account, cart, payment, and order systems.

Amazon describes its processing in the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Recipients, transfers, and retention

Website request and measurement data may be available to LawnMender and Cloudflare, which hosts, delivers, secures, and measures the site. Email providers process messages you choose to send. Google receives data only if you load the embedded video. Amazon receives data only if you follow an Amazon link. These providers may process data outside the EU/EEA under the transfer arrangements described in their own privacy and contractual information.

LawnMender does not keep a visitor database. Cloudflare currently makes Web Analytics results available for up to six months. Unsampled beacon data is retained for seven days before older data is reduced to aggregate samples. Affiliate-click events are retained in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine for three months. Infrastructure request and security data follows Cloudflare's platform retention and is used only for the operational, security, troubleshooting, and legal purposes described above.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, the GDPR can give you rights to information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability. Where processing relies on legitimate interests, you may object based on your particular situation. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions.

To exercise a right, email privacy@lawnmender.com. LawnMender may need information to verify your identity. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or another competent supervisory authority in the EU/EEA.

Controller and contact information

LawnMender is operated by Claes Olofsson, Fasanvägen 14, 363 31 Rottne, Sweden. Claes Olofsson is the controller for personal data processed through LawnMender.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if LawnMender changes measurement, adds forms, subscriptions, advertising technology, or a new embed, or changes hosting and security providers. Material changes will be reflected in the review date above.
